How to choose a
power bank rental
provider

Ten questions to ask before anyone puts a station in your venue, whoever you choose.

Ask who owns the hardware, what the contract says, who pays when something goes wrong, who looks after it, and how long installation will really take. A good provider answers all of it plainly.

Written by Procura. The questions apply to any provider, and under each one we say how we answer it.

1. Who owns the machine, and what does it cost you?

Why it matters. Some providers sell or lease you the machine. Others own it and cost you nothing. The difference decides who carries the risk.

A good answer. A clear price, or a clear £0, with no extras hiding in a service plan.

Procura. We own the hardware. Hosting costs £0, with no purchase, lease, service contract or invoices.

2. How is the revenue share set, and how will you see the numbers?

Why it matters. A share of a number you can't see is hard to trust.

A good answer. A stated way of setting the split, and regular figures you can check.

Procura. The split varies by location and is agreed after a consultation call and a two-week trial, when we go through the usage numbers with you. Ask us how income is reported on your call.

3. What does the contract say, and how long does it last?

Why it matters. Length, minimum term, notice, and what happens to the machine if you end it all matter.

A good answer. Short, plain, and in your hands before you commit.

Procura. The hosting agreement is one page with one signature. Ask us for the details on your consultation call, and read them before you sign.

4. Who pays when something is stolen or damaged?

Why it matters. Banks leave the building, and machines get bumped.

A good answer. The provider, with insurance they can name.

Procura. Theft, damage and liability are ours, including banks that leave the building. Every station is installed with £5m public and products liability cover.

5. Who looks after the machine day to day?

Why it matters. If your staff become the support line, the station costs you more than it earns.

A good answer. Remote monitoring, scheduled restocks and repairs, and a support route for guests that isn't your front desk.

Procura. Every station is monitored remotely and restocked and repaired on a schedule. Guests who need help contact us, not you.

6. How safe are the batteries?

Why it matters. Power banks are lithium batteries, and quality varies a lot.

A good answer. Certified cells with overcharge and temperature protection, and a process for retiring tired banks.

Procura. Our cells are certified, with overcharge and temperature protection. We test every bank when it comes back and take any unit that drops below capacity out of the network.

7. Can it carry your brand, and who controls the screen?

Why it matters. A station should look like it belongs in your venue, and the screen is valuable space.

A good answer. Your colours and logo, and clear rights over what the screen shows.

Procura. Colour, finish, panel graphics and logo are agreed before the unit is built. The screen runs your promotions, classes or menu, and you can sell screen time to your own sponsors and keep the revenue.

8. What does it cost your guests, and is there a deposit?

Why it matters. Price and friction decide whether guests actually rent.

A good answer. A clear hourly price, no app to download, and no big deposit.

Procura. £3 an hour with a one hour minimum, no deposit and no membership. Guests scan, pay on one page and take a bank, with no app.

9. How long will installation really take?

Why it matters. Some providers promise a date they can't keep.

A good answer. A realistic window, and a plain explanation of what it depends on.

Procura. Installation takes a morning, with nothing drilled or wired in. We order machines one at a time, in the order agreements are signed, so we give you a window when you join rather than a date.

10. Can you try it before you commit?

Why it matters. You will learn more in two weeks of real use than from any brochure.

A good answer. A trial with a clear review at the end.

Procura. The standard trial is two weeks. We go through the usage numbers with you and agree the split for your location.
